1.Our target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA across this website, the guest pass and the staff-facing applications. A guest pass is opened by whoever is handed a car, often outdoors, in poor light, one-handed — so accessibility work here is the same work as making the product usable at all.
2.What we have done
- Semantic headings in order, one first-level heading per page, and landmark regions.
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element, and full keyboard operation including the mobile menu, which traps focus and closes on Escape.
- Text and interface colours checked for contrast against the charcoal background.
- Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels on controls used at the curb.
- Labelled form fields with error messages associated to their input, not colour alone.
- Text alternatives for images, and no meaning carried by colour by itself.
- Layouts that work at 375 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling.
- Motion and transitions that respect a reduced-motion preference.
3.Known limitations
- Some longer comparison and workflow layouts reflow into stacked cards on small screens; the reading order is correct but denser than the desktop table.
- This site has not yet been audited by an independent accessibility specialist, and we have no VPAT or formal conformance report. Our claim is a target, not a certified result.
- We have not yet completed assistive-technology testing. The site is built with semantic HTML and keyboard-operable patterns, and screen-reader testing is planned before the pilot.
- Vehicle photographs carry a generic text alternative describing what the photograph is of; they are not individually described.
4.Reporting a barrier
If something on this site or in a ValoPal pass blocked you, email accessibility@valopal.ai with the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the device and assistive technology you were using. We will acknowledge it, tell you whether we can fix it, and say when. If it stops someone from collecting their car, it goes to the front of the queue.
